Mike’s first international trip occurred when he was two years old and flew from Seoul to Chicago to meet his adoptive parents and join five older brothers and sisters on their Ohio dairy farm. Little did he know that as he grew older, he would develop a passion for travel and for the aircraft that take him to cities around the globe.

I’ve known Mike almost since he arrived in the U.S. His parents are my sister and brother-in-law, which makes him my nephew. Now, since taking his second international flight some time ago (and many years after his first), he has traveled to more than 30 countries and is still on the go.

"Traveling is the world's greatest vocation,” Mike says, “because with each new country, culture and community I discover, the real reward is what I discover about myself, my abilities and my curiosities. Because after visiting so many countries, I never fail to uncover something I haven't seen before, and I always anticipate what the next journey will reveal."

Mike makes friends wherever he goes, but his most unique trait is this: He enjoys his own company more than anyone I know. When he's home, there are posts about canoeing on a nearby lake or the change of seasons as revealed by his favorite tree or mouthwatering photos of a meal he just cooked up. When he travels, we meet people and see the sights through his eyes.
